SESSION 1: Making Sense of Advisor and Mutual Fund Performance Rankings
Mark Hulbert for more than 40 years has been independently calculating investment newsletters' real-world returns. In this presentation he will summarize the investment lessons he has learned from his career.
You will learn:
  • What qualities and characteristics are shared by advisors who are at the top of the performance scoreboards?
  • The relative roles played by luck and skill in investment returns
  • How long is the long term?
SESSION 2: Contrarian Analysis of Market Timer Sentiment in Stocks, Gold & Bonds
In this presentation, Mr. Hulbert will report on the distinct patterns that have emerged from his 40+ year database of investment newsletter recommendations. As expected by contrarian analysis, the markets tend to struggle in the wake of extreme bullishness--and vice versa. Armed with this historical context, Mr. Hulbert will discuss current market timer sentiment in the stock, gold and bond arenas and what it signifies. You will learn:
  • Sentiment patterns emerging from an analysis of 40+ years of investment newsletters.
  • Implications of these patterns for the market's short-term prospects.
  • Analysis of current market timer sentiment in the stock, gold and bond arenas.
